English Translation
“And the former ones who first (converted to Islam) among the Muhajirins and Ansars and those who followed them well, Allah Rida to them, and they also Rida to Allah. God provided for them the heavens that flowed beneath them the rivers. They remain in it forever and ever. That’s a great victory.” (Q.S At Taubah : 100)
Interpretation
The previous verse explains that bedouin Arabs have weak faith and some are strong, then Allah explains a group of people whose faith is very strong. They were the ones who had previously achieved and exercised virtue before others carried out, again the first to convert to Islam among the Muhajirins from Mecca to Habasyah (Ethiopia) and Medina, and the Ansars, that is, the inhabitants of Medina who accepted and defended the Muslims, and those who followed them well with pious faith and charity and were willing to sacrifice in defense of Allah and His Messenger. God rida to them, that is, to receive their righteous charity and they also Rida to God for the gift of faith that fills their hearts. An even greater grace is that God provides them with the heavens that flow beneath them. They remain in it forever and ever. That is the glorious victory.
