About Surah Al Lahab

The 111th surah of the Quran is Surah Al Lahab. The Surah makkiyah is this one, which has five verses. The reason it is known as Surah Al Lahab is because the letter mentions Abu Lahab, who enjoys hurting the Messenger of Allah, and how Allah responds to him by creating a hell with raging fire (al lahab). In verse three, the term lahab (), which represents Abu Lahab’s destiny, is referenced. Surat Al Masad is another name for him. adapted from the final verse of this letter, where he made a reference to Abu Lahab’s wife. Due to the fact that the word of God begins with a word, it is also known as The Letter of Tabbat.

Asbabun Nuzul Surah Al Lahab

Asbabun Nuzul surah Al Lahab is narrated by Imam Bukhari in his shahih. From Ibn Abbas, that the Messenger of Allaah sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam went up to the hill of Shafa, gathered the people of Quraysh and called them.

Ibn Abbas reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, ascended mount Al-Safa one day and he called out, “O people! Come at once!” The Quraysh gathered before him, and the Prophet said, “Verily, I have been sent to warn you of a severe punishment before you. If I told you an enemy was preparing to attack you this morning or evening, would you believe me?” Abu Lahab said, “Is it for this you have called us? May you perish!” Then, Allah revealed the verse, “Perish the hand of Abu Lahab!” (111:1) Source: Sunan al-Tirmidhī 3363

Surah Al Masad Benefits

Here are a few benefits you can derive from the verse Tabbat Yada.

Increasingly Afraid to Do Mischief

All Muslims should be more frightened of defying Allah Almighty after reading Surat Al Lahab’s description of the brutality of hellish punishment, especially when it comes to topics of sex and adultery in Islam.

Building Faith-Based Families

The Prophet PBUH is very close to Abu Lahab as a relative, yet the relationship of a happy family, according to Islam, would not be helpful to Abu Lahab who has no religion because it is not based on faith.

Face the one you’re afraid of

Surah Al Lahab also offers human beings virtues and intercession, one of which is how to deal with someone who is frightened and indirectly harms them. You can recite this Surah Al Lahab twice when interacting with the subject.

Keeping Your Distance From A Life of Suffering

Surah Al Lahab also serves as a warning to those who have the same personality traits as Abu Lahab, who enjoys slandering Muslims, warning them that they will undoubtedly lead a life of hardship. Such a person will cause themselves to tumble into an endless valley.

The Danger To World Luxury From Hell

If the warning given to Abu Lahab by Allah Almighty that he would soon be included in the burning of hell serves as a warning to those of us who frequently dwell in the world like Abu Lahab did, they will enter the raging fire, according to the fragment of the third verse in this surah.
