English Translation
“People who eat usury cannot stand up but rather like the standing of people who are demonized because they are crazy. This is because they say that buying and selling is the same as usury. Even though God has justified buying and selling and forbidding usury. Whoever gets a warning from his Lord, and then he stops, then what he has obtained first belongs to him and his business (whatever) to God. Whoever repeats, then they are the inhabitants of hell, they are eternal in it.” (Q.S Al Baqarah : 275)
Interpretation
People who eat usury, namely doing usury transactions by taking or receiving excess capital from people in need by exploiting or taking advantage of their needs, cannot stand up, that is, carry out activities, but like the establishment of people who enter demons because they are crazy. They lived in anxiety; unsettled in their souls, always confused, and in uncertainty, for their minds and hearts are always fixed upon matter and its additions. That is what they will experience in the world, whereas in the hereafter they will be raised from the grave in a staggered state, not knowing the direction they are going, and will have a poignant doom. This is because they say foolishly that buying and selling are the same as usury with the logic that both make a profit.
They think it is like that, even though God has justified buying and selling and forbidding usury. The substance of the two is different, because buying and selling benefits both parties (buyer and seller), while usury is very detrimental to one of the parties. Whoever gets a warning from his Lord, after he has previously made a usury transaction, and then he ceases and does not do it again, then what he has obtained first before the prohibition comes to his possession, that is, the usury which has been taken or received before the descent of this verse, may not be returned, and his affairs return to God. Whoever repeats the usury transaction after the warning comes then they are the inhabitant of hell. They remain in it forever and ever.
