Quranic Verses About Patience In Arabic And English Translation With Tafsir

Assalamualaikum Muslim Friends, so many Verses of the Quran talk about patience. on this occasion we will share about it. So keep reading our aticle this time until it’s over.

About Paience

According to the language, Sabar comes from the word “Al Habsu” which means restraint. The definition of patience according to syar’iat in Islam is to refrain from 3 kinds of things, namely: obedience to Allah, things that are forbidden, and Allah’s destiny that may be difficult to live, for example, calamity.

The nature of patience is a trait that must always exist and be ingrained in the heart of a Muslim. Why is that ? Because obviously God really likes people to be patient. Let alone God as our creator. Patience is also very much liked by fellow creatures, namely fellow human beings.

Therefore let us not be quick to anger we must be able to control anger or complain about what has befallen us, for rest assured that every trial that God gives us, it is merely a test. We must increase our patience to face the trials, so that we can pass the tests God has given us.

Since this nature of patience is very important for a hamaba to have, it is not surprising that so many verses of the Quran discuss this nature of patience, here is for more details:

“Obey Allah and His Messenger and do not dispute with one another, or you would be discouraged and weakened. Persevere! Surely Allah is with those who persevere.”

3. The Quran 11:49 (Surah Hud)

A devout person who is always patient will get the best results.
That is from the news of the unseen which We reveal to you, [O Muhammad]. You knew it not, neither you nor your people, before this. So be patient; indeed, the [best] outcome is for the righteous.

4. The Quran 42:43 (Surah Ash-Shuraa)

And whoever endures patiently and forgives—surely this is a resolve to aspire to.
Tafsir ALA-MAUDUDI: One should note that the qualities of the believers that have been mentioned in these verses, practically existed in the lives of the Prophet (peace be upon him) and his companions, and the disbelievers of Makkah were their eye-witnesses. Thus, Allah has, in fact, told the disbelievers: The real wealth is not the provisions that you have received for passing the transitory life of the world, and are bursting with pride of it, but the real wealth are the morals and characteristics which the believers from your own society have developed by accepting the guidance given by the Quran.

5. The Quran 2:153 (Surah Al-Baqarah)

“O believers! Seek comfort in patience and prayer. Allah is truly with those who are patient.”
Tafsir ALA-MAUDUDI : Since the ummah has been invested with world leadership, a set of necessary directives is now provided for its guidance. Before laying down these directives it seemed necessary to caution the Muslims that the office which had been conferred on them was indeed no bed of roses. On the contrary, it was a great and perilous responsibility. Once they undertook it, they would be subjected to all kinds of afflictions, put to all kinds of trials and tribulations and made to bear all kinds of deprivation. If, however, the Muslims persisted along the path of God despite the perils they would be rewarded with God’s favour in full measure.

6. The Quran 25:75 (Surah Al-Furqan)

I”t is they who will be rewarded with (elevated) mansions (in Paradise) for their perseverance, and will be received with salutations and (greetings of) peace”
Tafsir ALA-MAUDUDI: They are the ones who will be rewarded for their patience: lofty palaces94, [95] will be granted to them, and they will be received with greeting and salutation.

“O my dear son! Establish prayer, encourage what is good and forbid what is evil, and endure patiently whatever befalls you. Surely this is a resolve to aspire to.”
Tafsir ALA-MAUDUDI: Son, establish Prayer, enjoin all that is good and forbid all that is evil, and endure with patience whatever affliction befalls you.[29] Surely these have been emphatically enjoined.[30]

8. The Quran 2:45 (Surah Al-Baqarah)

“And seek help through patience and prayer. Indeed, it is a burden except for the humble”
Tafsir IBN-KATHIR: Allah commanded His servants to use patience and prayer to acquire the good of this life and the Hereafter. Muqatil bin Hayan said that this Ayah means, “Utilize patience and the obligatory prayer in seeking the Hereafter. As for patience (here), they say that it means fasting.” There are similar texts reported from Mujahid. Al-Qurtubi and other scholars commented, “This is why Ramadan is called the month of patience,” as is mentioned in the Hadith literature. It was also said that `patience’ in the Ayah means, refraining from evil, and this is why `patience’ was mentioned along with practicing acts of worship, especially and foremost, the prayer. Also, Ibn Abi Hatim narrated that `Umar bin Al-Khattab said, “There are two types of patience: good patience when the disaster strikes, and a better patience while avoiding the prohibitions of Allah.” Ibn Abi Hatim said that Al-Hasan Al-Basri was reported to have said similarly.

And be patient, [O Muhammad], and your patience is not but through Allah. And do not grieve over them and do not be in distress over what they conspire.
Tafsir ALA-MAUDUDI: (16:127) And bear with patience, (O Muhammad) – and your patience is only because of the help of Allah – and do not grieve over them, nor feel distressed by their evil plans.

10. The Quran 70:05 (Surah al-Ma’arij)

So be patient. Indeed, the promise of Allah is truth. And let them not disquiet you who are not certain [in faith].
