English Translation

“O people of faith! Do not violate the shirks of the sanctity of Allah, do not (violate the honor) of the haram months, do not (disturb) the hadyu (sacrificial animals) and qala’id (the marked sacrificial animals), and do not (also) disturb those who visit Baitulharam; they seek the gift and pleasure of their Lord. But when you have completed the ihram, then you may hunt. Do not let (your) hatred towards a people because they hinder you from the Masjidilharam, pushing you to go beyond the limits (to them). And help ye in (working out) virtue and piety, and do not help in sinning and enmity. Be devoted to God, truly, God is very heavy in His torment.” (Q.S Al Maidah: 2)

Interpretation

The following verse contains the laws of God relating to the ordinances for the performance of the hajj. O people of faith! Do not violate the shirks of the sanctity of Allah, that is, all the practices done in carrying out the hajj such as the ordinances of performing tawaf and sa’i, and the places of doing it, such as the Kakbah, Safa, and Marwah, do not violate them by hunting when in a state of ihram nor violate the honor of the illegitimate months, namely the months of Zulkaidah, Zulhijah, Muharram, and Rajab, nor do you violate his honor by fighting in that month except  to defend yourself when attacked.

Do not disturb the hadyu, that is, the sacrificial animals gifted to the Kakbah to draw closer to Allah, the animals are slaughtered in the land of haram and given their meat to the poor, and qalaids, the sacrificial animals that are marked, are wrapped with ropes as a sign indicating that the animals have been prepared for sacrifice and gift, nor do they disturb those who visit Baitulharam,  to perform the hajj or umrah, they seek gifts in the form of worldly gains, and mercy in the form of rewards from their God.
However, if you have completed the ihram, then you can hunt if you want. Do not let your partial hatred of a people because they hinder you from visiting the Masjidilharam, encouraging you to go beyond the limits to them by killing them or committing crimes against them. And help you in working out virtue, doing what God commands, and being ignorant, fearing its prohibitions, and not helping in sinning, committing malfeasance and enmity, for such is against God’s laws. Be devoted to God, fear God by doing His commandments and forsaking His prohibitions, for truly God is very heavy in His torment to those who disobey Him.
