بِسْمِ اللَّهِ تَوَكَّلْـتُ عَلَى اللَّهِ، وَلاَ حَوْلَ وَلاَ قُـوَّةَ إِلاَّ بِاللَّهِ

Transliteration

“Bismil-lah, tawakkaltu AAalal-lah, wala hawla wala quwwata illa billah”

English Translation

“In the name of Allah, I place my trust in Allah, and there is no might nor power except with Allah”

Dua upon boarding a vehicle

When riding in a vehicle Prophet Muhammad SAW teaches us to recite:

Arabic

سُبْحَانَ الذي سَخَّرَ لَنَا هذا، وَما كُنَّا له مُقْرِنِينَ، وإنَّا إلى رَبِّنَا لَمُنْقَلِبُونَ

Transliteration

“Subhanal-ladzi sakh-khara lana hadza wa ma kunna lahu muqrinin. Wa inna ila Rabbina lamun-qalibun.” 

English Translation

In the name of Allah and all praise is for Allah. How perfect He is, the One Who has placed this (transport) at our service and we ourselves would not have been capable of that, and to our Lord is our final destiny. (Sahih Muslim)

Arabic

رَّبِّ اَدْخِلْنِيْ مُدْخَلَ صِدْقٍ وَّاَخْرِجْنِيْ مُخْــرَجَ صِدْقٍ وَّاجْعَلْ لِّيْ مِنْ لَّدُنْكَ سُلْطٰنًا نَّصِيْرًا

Transliteration

Rabbi Adkhilnee Mudkhala S’idqiw Wa Akhrijnee Mukhraja S’diqiw Waj-a’l Lee Mil Ladunkaa Sult’aanan Nas’eeraa

English Translation

 My Lord! Let my entry (to the city of Al-Madinah) be good, and likewise my exit (from the city of Makkah) be good. And grant me from You an authority to help me (or a firm sign or a proof).

Dua For Entering a New Town / Your destination

When you have arrived at your destination, continue to recite the dua below:

عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ قَالَ كُنَّا نُسَافِرُ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَإِذَا رَأَى الْقَرْيَةَ يُرِيدُ أَنْ يَدْخُلَهَا قَالَ اللَّهُمَّ بَارِكْ لَنَا فِيهَا ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ اللَّهُمَّ ارْزُقْنَا جَنَاهَا وَحَبِّبْنَا إِلَى أَهْلِهَا وَحَبِّبْ صَالِحِي أَهْلِهَا إِلَيْنَ

Ibn Umar reported: We were traveling with the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, and when he saw a town he wanted to enter, he would say three times, “O Allah, bless us in it. O Allah, provide us with its fruits, make us beloved to its people, and make the righteous of its people beloved to us.” Source: al-Mu’jam al-Awsaṭ 4755

Dua when returning home

After your trip ends and intends to return home should read :

Arabic

آيبونَ تائبونَ عابدونَ لربِّنا حامِدون

Transliteration

“Ayibun, ta’ibun, ‘abidun, liRabbina hamidun”

English Translation

We return, in repentant, worshipping, and praising our Lord (Sahih Muslim)
