About Surah Al-Falaq

The 113th surah of the Qur’an is Surah Al Falaq, This surah has five verses. Defined as “dawn hour,” al Falaq The Makiyah surah class was established in Makkah City, where Suraih Al Falaq was transmitted. But there are divergent views on the city from where the Al Falaq surah was derived. The viewpoints of Al-Hasan, Ikrimah, Ata, and Jabir claim that surah Al Falaq is categorized as a Makiyah surah because there is a hadith told by Uqbah ibn Amir, which is stated in the book Surah al-Falaq by Ariffin Omar.

In contrast, according to Qatadah and Ibn Abbas, surah Al Falaq is a Madaniyah surah because it contains a hadith that was told by Aisyah r.a. Despite these discrepancies, the purpose of surah al-Falaq is to resurrect and implore only Allah SWT for protection in the face of numerous dangers.

Asbabun Nuzul Surah Al-Falaq

one day prophet Muhammad SAW was visited by two angels when he was sick. The two angels discussed with the Prophet Muhammad SAW until the conclusion was reached that the Messenger of Allah was exposed to magic.

The Prophet Muhammad complained to the angel that the man who bewitched him was a jew wearing a scroll stored in the well of the fulan family in a large stone. The Jew made food for the Prophet Muhammad which caused him to be very ill.

After hearing the story, the two angels advised the Prophet Muhammad to go to the well, draw the water, lift the stone, and burn the scroll that the Jews had been wearing.

The next day, the Prophet Muhammad sent Ammar bin Yasir and his friends to carry out what the angel had given him. The Prophet also told them that the angel Gabriel had brought the letter of Al Falaq to help them.

When they arrived and found the scroll, the scroll was tied over eleven knots. After the difficulty of opening the knot, they recited a verse of Al Falaq’s letter and then the knot easily opened. After the scroll was opened, the Prophet Muhammad welcomed His companions in good health.
